How do you install wire rope clips correctly?

To install a U-bolt wire rope clip correctly, follow the rule "never saddle a dead horse": the U-bolt (saddle) always goes on the live, loaded end of the rope, and the base (casting) goes on the dead, tail end. Then:

Turn back the required length of rope to form the eye.

Place the first clip one saddle-width from the end of the dead rope.

Place the second clip as close to the thimble or loop as possible and lightly tighten it.

Place the remaining clips evenly between the first two.

Tighten all clips to the recommended torque.

Apply the working load, then re-tighten every clip.

Never stagger the clips along the rope.
